2020.37: Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows
PrintsSoftly shaded etching in black on tan paper shows a landscape scene. In a bright sky with billowing clouds, a rainbow curves from top center-left to the center, arcing over a distant cathedral with a tall spire. At right, flat fields stretch from the middle distance almost up to the cathedral, where cattle graze on the grass. In the foreground, a stream curves in toward us from the left, then circles back away toward the center around a dense thicket of gnarled trees. At lower center, A man drives a team of three horses that pull his cart into the shallow stream.
