Description
Mounted on cut silk burgundy velvet with knotted cotton fringe at short ends; woven metallic braid divides field into five sections; left panel depicts St. John the Baptist carrying a book and pointing at Agnus Dei under an archway topped by a scallop shell; right panel depicts the Virgin holding the infant Jesus with an orb in his left hand and blessing with his right, in a similar archway; figures and embroidery in silk split stitch on plain woven linen ground; backed with cotton satin.
