This portrait shows the bust and head of Matsumoto Kōshirō. His hair is tied back, and he wears a white cloth wrapped around his head. He wears brown and beige plaid robes with floral details, and a black collar. His left hand reaches into the other sleeve, and his right hand is raised to put a yellow and red stylus to his face. He is frowning, and wrinkles are visible on the side of his mouth and between his eyebrows. There is a line of Japanese script on the right side.
