2000.263: Segmented Dish with Notched Rim and Peony Decor
VesselsGlazed in a pale blue-green, the dish has a flat circular base and a low, upward sloping side. The rim is notched at six even intervals that form segments in the side around the flat circular center. Both the segments and the center are imprinted with a raised design of flowers, leaves and branches. The glaze is shaded a slightly deeper blue where the side meets the center, and a network of fine surface cracks covers most of the finish. The under side is unembellished and the terracotta of the base at the center is left unglazed.
