2.2002.2952: Hin-han-du-ta, The Red Owl. A Chief of the Mde-wa-kan-ton Sioux [Lakota]. Dakota.
PhotographsA sepia toned photograph shows a man standing facing us with a proud bearing. He has medium dark skin, dark eyes and lines on his face. His long dark hair is parted in the middle and twisted into two braids that hang in front of his chest. He wears a headdress of four broad, tall feathers at the back of his head. He wears a black jacket and a black bow tie over a white collared shirt, as he holds a blanket wrapped around his legs and waist. In the crook of his arm he holds a short wooden staff decorated at one end with a feather.
