  • (not assigned): It is fully marked, with the NC for Newcomb College in New Orleans, whose pottery was founded in 1894; LN for the decorator, Leona F. Nicholson (1875-1966); "W" for the white clay body in use at Newcomb from 1895 to 1908; "M" for the potter Joseph Meyer; and "CT-28" representing the year it was made, in code, 1908, and the number of the piece.

Descriptions

Description
This early, high-gloss Newcomb College vase is in cylindrical form, with a narrow waist and tapered base and lip. The blue decoration culminates in a stylized floral motif (representing viburnum) below the lip.
