Descriptions

Description
A small tapestry inwoven fragment with a red scroll design against a dark blue background. Dark blue wave scroll borders run in opposite directions. Areas of plain/tabby woven undyed linen.
Commentary
Red shape of this type appears on V&A 1335A-1888, 1375-1888. On D.08.5.78.4 in the Musée des beaux-arts de Rennes found in Antinopolis, the shapes are clearly articulated as black vines against a red background.
