Descriptions Description Small globular jar with everted rim, constricted neck, short footring, three concentric grooves on the shoulder, and decoration of green splashes against a white ground; off-white earthenware with lead-fluxed copper-green splashed glaze on the exterior and lead-fluxed pale yellow glaze on the interior; glaze stops short of the foot; unglazed base. Copper-splashed sancai ware. From northern China, Henan, Hebei, or Shaanxi province. Commentary Compare to: Green glazed globular jar with similar shoulder markings and sancai jar of similar shape but with four loop handles excavated from the 8th century tomb of Princess Yongtai, Qianling, Shaanxi province.
